April 2019 marks the 25th anniversary of the outbreak of the genocide in Rwanda, during which 800,000 to one million people were slaughtered in the span of 100 days.

We would like to screen this 2017 Polish film BIRDS ARE SINGING IN KIGALI.

A bittersweet story of healing and resilience begins in 1994, when a Polish ornithologist doing research in Rwanda saves a young Tutsi woman after her family is murdered in the genocide. In Poland, the women each struggle in their own way to move on from the visceral horrors they have experienced. This film is about the power of friendship and what it means to forgive, to reconcile, to remember and to mourn.
